ESRI and The Omega Group are partnering to offer all Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) sites a twelve-month free trial at CrimeMapping.com. This offer is only available to U.S. based ESRI clients that are not currently live at CrimeMapping.com. State and local governments are included and the program will expire on February 1, 2011.
CrimeMapping.com has been developed by The Omega Group to help law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S. provide the public with valuable information about recent crime activity in their neighborhood. Our goal is to assist police departments in reducing crime through a better-informed citizenry. Creating more self-reliance among community members is a great benefit to community oriented policing efforts everywhere and has been proven effective in combating crime. Hundreds of agencies throughout the U.S. are currently utilizing the service which has been featured in both the Wall Street Journal and USA Today.
Strengthen community-oriented policing efforts in your area by sharing recent crime data with the public through maps and reports at CrimeMapping.com.
Increase transparency and trust by opening a new communication channel between the public and the police with features like Agency Links and Crime Alerts.
Participate on a national as well as regional level as CrimeMapping.com allows users to pan between adjacent agencies and states.
Filter crimes by type, date, location and agency.
Search for crimes near any location such as your home, place of business or child's school of attendance.
Any U.S. based ESRI ELA client currently not utilizing CrimeMapping.com will be provided with the hosted service free of charge for twelve-months. There are zero setup or service fees as the entire crime data import process is handled remotely by The Omega Group staff. All crimes are generalized by block address to protect privacy and any specific crime types can be filtered out based on an agency's individual needs. There is also a staging area where users can test their data in the mapping environment before it goes live.
The service is extremely affordable and pricing after the twelve-month free trial period would be based on the population served by each agency. CrimeMapping.com is $100 per month for any agency serving a population of 100,000 or less and $200 per month for agencies serving populations in excess of 100,000. “We have demonstrated the CrimeView application to several state and local public safety officials, all who comment, that they have never seen such a robust crime mapping system."
