East Orange Police Battle Crime with Timely Data

East Orange Police Department in New Jersey successfully reduced overall crime rates within the city over the last few years through the innovative use of technology. To further expand the approach, the department recently implemented CrimeView® to map out and report recent activity.

A customized import process setup by The Omega Group automatically uploads information to CrimeView® from the dispatch and records management systems every ten minutes. When an analyst maps out crime, the data queried is always current. Having timely data allows the department to react more quickly to new events and trends.

East Orange Police Department also uses CrimeView® for weekly CompStat meetings to assign patrols based on incidents occurring within the last three weeks. The following week, the analysts and command staff compare the patrol effort to the incident locations to insure that the correct areas are being targeted.

Madison Fire Department Saves Time and Resources with FireView™

Madison Fire Department in Wisconsin is making the most of mapping technology with FireView™. The software system allows department staff to analyze response performance as well as develop long range deployment strategies. FireView™ connects with the department’s existing records management system so that the data being analyzed is always current. This saves significant time and resources because tasks that would normally have taken days now only take a few minutes.

“In the past analyzing the data in order to get a current snapshot of our status would take days. With the tools available in Fireview, I was able to pull the data in about 15 minutes.” Assistant Chief Jim Keiken
